About Dr. Tasch

Dr. Tasch Austin DentistMy love affair with Austin began early in my life. Back when Lamar Boulevard was the main north-south thoroughfare in Austin, I would spend a portion of my summer vacations visiting my grandparents. I am very fortunate to have childhood memories of 'Zephyr' train rides in Zilker Park followed by refreshing swims in the enchanting emerald blue waters of Barton Springs. In 1982, I was elated to learn that my family was relocating in Austin. My high school years passed quickly here in Austin and soon I was attending the University of Texas. In addition to earning a BA in Biology, I also had the wonderful fortune of meeting Sara, my wife, during my stay at UT.

My professional career began in 1992 at the number one ranked dental school in the nation: The University of Texas Health and Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. In 1997 I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery and quickly returned to Austin where I and Dr. Meek, a friend and dental school colleague, began 38th Street Dental.

I am an active member of the Capital Area Dental Society, The Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. I regularly attend continuing education courses to allow for the best patient care possible. Additionally, I am currently pursuing a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.

I really love all aspects of dentistry. It does not matter whether I'm curing a toothache to allow a patient to finally enjoy a good night's rest or transforming a patient's smile to enhance their appearance and self-confidence, I feel very fortunate that I have been blessed with these skills. Practicing dentistry continues to be a tremendously challenging and fulfilling profession.

My passion for helping people achieve beautiful smiles is only surpassed by my love of spending time with my wife, Sara, and two children, Carsten and Kelsey. To this day I still enjoy family picnics at Zilker Park and swimming laps in Barton Springs. I am also an active member of the Austin Astronomy Society and on clear, moonless nights I can usually be found peering through a telescope contemplating the beauty and mystery of the vast universe.

ABOUT DR. MEEK

Austin Teeth Whitening Dr. MeekDentistry has always been the goal. I was raised in Kingwood, Texas where my father and I spent a great deal of time woodworking and designing all types of projects. This philosophy of, if you can dream it, we can build it, wet my appetite for a career that would allow me to solve problems, design, fabricate, and deliver a unique and beautiful product. Early on, I identified dentistry as the perfect combination of all these things. With this goal in mind, I headed to Trinity University, San Antonio, to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry.

After completing my undergraduate work at Trinity, I was accepted at all three Texas dental schools. I chose The University of Texas Heath Science Center Dental School, San Antonio. This dental school has been consistently ranked the number one dental education center in the United States. My four years flew by and my love affair with dentistry flourished.

Following graduation from dental school in 1997, Dr. Tasch and I opened our restorative practice here in Austin. Quality, not quantity has always been our goal.

Currently, I am pursuing a Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry. Attaining Fellowship is a rigorous process that requires five years of membership in the AGD, over 500 hours of continuing education, and passing a certification exam.

Outside dentistry, I enjoy a wide variety of interests. I still fabricate wood projects in my shop just as my father and I did when I was a boy. In addition, scuba diving, offshore fishing and underwater photography fill my vacations with fun and adventure.

Dentistry has always been the goal. I invite you to come and share my enthusiasm about all the great techniques at our disposal to whiten, brighten, and reconstruct a healthy, drop dead Gorgeous smile!

Best Regards,
Mike Meek, DDS
